DEP issued these violations in February in the four counties:
■ One in Butler County to XTO Energy Inc. on Feb. 18 for improper casing to protect fresh groundwater at a drill site in Forward Township.

Nine violations and more than a dozen permits for gas and oil drilling
came out of a roundup of local records that detail drilling activities
over the past month.
