Gas Geyser in Your Backyard ?

October 26, 2012 | Filed under: Blog and tagged with: , , ,

Nice work by Walter Hang’s Toxics Targeting. He’s published an interactive map to show where an abandoned oil or gas well might be located, or a spill, etc. The setback of a new gas well from an abandoned gas well is a mile, the biggest setback in the dSGEIS – which is 5,180 feet farther than the 100 foot setback of a new gas well from a house -  since a shale gas frack has a funny way of turning an old well bore into a gas geyser by re-pressuring the old well - catastrophically.
