Development of the Marcellus Shale is sparking conversation and controversy throughout our region. Deciding what to do with this immense natural resource calls us to examine what we want for ourselves, our communities and generations to come.
“Marcellus Shale: What Does it Mean for Us?” will explore the issue from four different perspectives that were gleaned from surveys and conversations with Centre County residents. Although the approaches overlap, they do suggest different priorities and trade-offs to consider.
Can we afford to pass up this potentially significant economic opportunity? Or should this be seen as our best chance to get to a future of renewable energy sources? How important is it that we protect health and safety for future generations as well as ourselves? To preserve the nature of our rural communities?
This is your invitation to be part of that conversation.
